Vol. 4 No. 19

QUESTION ON ADJOURNMENT.

I beg to give notice that I will raise on the adjournment the question of the advisability of the Government extending the time for the settling of malicious injury claims.

You mean the advisability of the Government extending the time in the Damage to Property Act?

Yes, the date in the Act.

Would not that require legislation?

It would. I would like to ask the Government to consider that matter.

The matter then to be raised is the advisability of introducing legislation to extend the time for the settlement of malicious injury claims under the Damage to Property (Compensation) Act, 1923.

The date in the Bill is the 20th March. Does the Deputy mean that he intends to press for an extension of the date?

Yes, I wish to ask the Government to extend the date so as to relieve the rates.

I would like to support that.

I was going to give notice that I will raise on the adjournment the question of the failure of the Government to make careful inquiries into the case of Mr. Noel Lemass.

I think that will have to stand over now, in view of the other notice given.
