Vol. 6 No. 38

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - A PORTLAOIGHISE ARREST.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the reason for the arrest and continued detention of Thomas Brady, Lalor's Mills, Portlaoighise, Leix; whether any charge has been preferred against him, and with what result, or if he is prepared to recommend his release at an early date.

Mr. Brady was interned because there was reason to believe that he was an active Irregular and had taken part in attacks against our troops. He has not been formally charged in this connection, but he is being kept in detention for consideration of public safety.
