Vol. 7 No. 17

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGE OF SCIENCE.

asked the Minister for Education if he received last autumn a resolution passed unanimously by the Governing Body and Academic Council of University College, Cork, requesting the Government to establish a Commission immediately to investigate the status, functions, and inter-relations of the University Colleges and the College of Science; if, in the interim, the Government has evolved any policy on the subject; if he is aware that higher agricultural education and research are being seriously hindered by the continuance of the present anomalous position of the College of Science.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative; in answer to the second part, any decision which may be adopted by the Government will be communicated to the Dáil in due course; in answer to the third part, full consideration is being given by the Government to the statement contained in the question.
