Vol. 7 No. 20

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - EX-SOLDIER'S CLAIM FOR PENSION.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Thomas Hughes, of Fair Green, Naas, Army No. 44196, or 12329, 16th Infantry Battalion, Keogh Barracks, Dublin, who attested on the 12th July, 1922, and was discharged as medically unfit on the 20th October, 1923, is unable to work, as the result of a bullet wound received in the left hand when the Anglo-American Oil Company's premises at the East Wall was attacked by Irregular forces on the 7th February, 1923; further, whether three applications for pension were sent in without result, and whether, as this young man is one of a large family, whose father is also disabled, he will expedite consideration of this claim.

One application only appears to have been received from Mr. Hughes. The usual form was sent to him for completion on the 11th December last, but, it appears, has not been returned. A further form has now been sent, and on its return, duly completed, the case will be considered with the least possible delay.
