Vol. 7 No. 27

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - UTILISING TUAM WORKHOUSE.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has received a request from the Galway County Board of Health urging him to agree to the withdrawal of troops stationed in the Tuam Workhouse in order to provide suitable accommodation for a Children's Home, seeing that the premises used at present for that purpose at Glenamaddy have been condemned as unsuitable by the Local Government Authorities, and if he is in a position to announce a decision in connection with the application.

I have received an enquiry from the Galway County Board of Health as to the possibility of troops vacating Tuam Workhouse at an early date. The question is at present under consideration. I anticipate, however, that the buildings will be required for some time longer, possibly a month or two.
