Vol. 7 No. 27

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - NAAS ARREST—CLAIM FOR LOST BICYCLE.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that when James Kelly, of Ballybought, Ballymore-Enstace, Co. Kildare, was arrested by Military Police in Naas, on the 27th March, 1923, he was riding a Royal Frankfort 1921 model bicycle, the property of his employer, Mr. Joseph Quinn; whether this bicycle was taken by the police to the Military Barracks and has not been returned; further, whether as Mr. Kelly has to pay his employed £12 for the loss of the bicycle by weekly instalments of 10s., he will consider the question of compensation.

I am not aware at the moment that a bicycle was taken from Mr. Kelly on the occasion of his arrest. In any case I am informed that Mr. Kelly was an active Irregular. The question of compensation cannot therefore be considered.
