Vol. 7 No. 27

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - DEBTS CONTRACTED BY AUXILIARIES AT KILLALOE.

asked the President if he is yet in a position to make any statement relative to the debts contracted by the Auxiliary Police Force attached to the British Army at Killaloe, Co. Clare, and the methods employed to force traders to accept half of the amounts due to them by that force as a full settlement.

I am in communication with the British Colonial Office concerning the matter referred to by the Deputy. The Deputy will understand that there is considerable difficulty in tracing members of the Auxiliary Police Force, and that even when they have been traced it is not easy to bring home liability in respect of transactions occurring under abnormal circumstances.
