Vol. 7 No. 28

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - MAYNOOTH MERCHANT'S APPLICATION.

Mr. EGAN (for Seoirse de Bhulbh)

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that Messrs. M. and J. Dawson, of Maynooth, have applied for a licence to sell cartridges, etc., which up to date has not been granted, and whether, in view of the fact that the firm in question is of high standing, he will enquire into the matter, and if satisfied order a licence to be issued.

An application for registration as dealers in firearms and ammunition was received last January from Messrs. M. and J. Dawson, Maynooth, but no additions have been made to the number of such dealers since the 18th of December last. On the 25th April, in reply to an inquiry, Messrs. Dawson were informed that if it was decided to appoint additional dealers their application would receive careful consideration.

I intend shortly, slightly to increase the number of registered firearm dealers, and I shall consider this case.
