Vol. 7 No. 30

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - FOOD AND DRUGS INSPECTORS (CO. MEATH).

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state whether any arrangements have been made for the inspection of weights and measures and foods and drugs in County Meath, and, if so, if he will state the number of inspectors appointed and for what areas.

The Minister would refer the Deputy to the answer given by him to Deputy MacLiam on the 13th ultimo in regard to the appointment of Inspectors of Weights and Measures. As regards the duties of inspection under the sale of Food and Drugs Acts, the administration of these Acts lies with the Local Authorities, and arrangements have been made to facilitate the latter by nominating members of the Gárda Síochána for appointment as inspectors whenever their services as such are requisitioned.

Is the Minister aware that in the town of Navan an inspector was appointed two months ago, and he has not yet proceeded to carry out his duties?

I will mention that matter to the Minister.
