Vol. 7 No. 30

COMMITTEE ON FINANCE. - SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON DAIRY PRODUCE BILL.

I beg to submit the Eighth Report of the Sessional Committee of Selection nominating a Special Committee to consider the Dairy Produce Bill, 1924. The report is as follows:—

1. The Committee met on 25th June, 1924, to consider an Order of the Dáil made the 20th June, 1924, to nominate nine Deputies to serve on a Special Committee to consider the Dairy Produce Bill, 1924.

2. The Sessional Committee recommends that the following Deputies be nominated accordingly:—Beamish, Dalton, P.K. Hogan, Heffernan, Baxter, P. Hogan (Clare). S. Milroy, J. Cosgrave, and the Minister for Agriculture.

3. The Committee is, however, of opinion that the Special Committee should consist of 15 members, and recommends to the Dáil that the number should be so increased. In the event of the Dáil adopting this suggestion, the Sessional Committee recommends the nomination of the following six additional Deputies:— Duffy, Egan, Johnson, Donovan, C. Byrne and Sullivan.

(Sd.) PEADAR O h-AODHA,

Cathaoirleach an Choiste.

25 Bealtaine, 1924.

So far as I can gather from the Report, there is no member on the Committee from the group sitting on these benches.

Deputy Cosgrave.

If the number be increased I think we are entitled to two members.

The Committee had not the advice of any Deputies sitting on the Independent Benches. They were not at the meeting, and I presume they got notice, but we did not leave them out in the cold.

Very well, I withdraw my opposition.

Ordered that the membership of the Committee be 15, and that the Report of the Committee of Selection lie on the Table.

Will the names of the Committee that has been recommended follow as a decision?

I think so.

Ordered: "That the Special Committee sit on the 2nd July, and report not later than the 9th July."
