Vol. 8 No. 4

BUSINESS OF THE DAIL.

What is proposed as regards the order of business?

Yesterday I announced that we would take the Estimates to-day. No. 3 on the Order Paper stands. If there is no objection to taking that now, I take it we may go on with it.

That is to say, take the Intoxicating Liquor Bill before the Estimates until 6.30 p.m.

I understood the arrangement was that we should take the Estimates until 6.30 o'clock.

If there is any objection I do not propose to take No. 3.

Mr. O'CONNELL

I suggest that we go on with the Estimates.

Very good. I move that we take the adjournment at 10.30 o'clock.

When will the Local Elections Postponement (Amendment) Bill be taken?

I intend to take that first.

Mr. O'CONNELL

I do not want to insist on the point I made. If it is more convenient for the President to take No. 3 now and the Estimates afterwards, I have no objection.

If Deputy O'Connell has withdrawn his objection, I beg to step into the breach, and say I object.

What is Deputy Milroy objecting to?

To proceeding with the Liquor Bill.

The Deputy cannot object to proceeding with the Liquor Bill in general.

Oh, no. I understood the President said if anyone objected to taking the Intoxicating Liquor Bill at this stage he would proceed with the Estimates.

It is proposed to sit later than 8.30, and take the order for the adjournment not later than 10.30.

Agreed.

We will take No. 2 on the Order Paper, the Local Elections Postponement (Amendment) Bill, and then the Estimates for the whole of the sitting without taking the Liquor Bill at all.

I thought the President said we will take the Liquor Bill after the Estimates?

I understand the Minister for Justice will not be able to be present after tea to take the Bill, and as there is objection to taking it now it cannot be taken at all to-day.
