Vol. 8 No. 7

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - OLD AGE PENSION CLAIM (GALWAY).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state why an old age pension has been refused to Mrs. Josephs, of Bride Street, Loughrea, Co. Galway, in view of the fact that the Local Pensions Committee recommended her for pension on two occasions.

The two claims put forward in this case were disallowed on the ground of means. The claimant assigned her licensed house and premises, by deed dated 26th July, 1923, to her married daughter in consideration of a payment by the daughter of £60 to the claimant's son. Mrs. Josephs resides on the premises. The means were, on each occasion, for old age pension purposes, estimated to exceed £49 17s. 6d. a year. On the facts the estimate appears reasonable, and debars the claimant from any pension.
