Vol. 8 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COMPENSATION FOR OCCUPATION.

Mr. EGAN

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Egmont House, the dwelling-house of Mrs. Harte Barry, Kanturk, was taken possession of by the Military Authorities on August 16th, 1922, and subsequently by the Gárda Síochána on April 4th, 1923, who remained until 21st December, 1923; and if he will state when it is proposed to pay Mrs. Barry the balance of her account for rent, damage to house, premises, and furniture.

I am aware that Egmont House, the dwelling-house of Mrs. Harte Barry, of Kanturk, was occupied for a period by military, and for a subsequent period by Gárda Síochána. An offer is about to be made in respect of rent, damage to house, premises, and furniture to Mrs. Barry, by the Office of Public Works, which Department deals with claims of this nature on behalf of the Army and the Gárda.
