Vol. 8 No. 13

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - SALE OF CAMP FITTINGS.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that a number of large water tanks at the destroyed Hutments, Belmont, Cobh, were recently sold by the Military Authorities; whether he can state the number of such tanks sold, and whether they were sold by open tender; and if he is aware that the Cobh Urban District Council had been in communication with the authorities for the past twelve months endeavouring to purchase one of these tanks, and were prepared to pay any reasonable sum in order to secure same, and if he can state why the Urban Council was not consulted before the recent sale took place.

Two water tanks only have been sold recently at Belmont Hutments. The sale was by competitive tender, due for acceptance by noon on the 18th ultimo, and was duly advertised in the Dublin and Cork daily papers on the 5th, 6th and 7th idem. Only one communication can be traced as having been addressed to the military authorities. It is dated the 21st June, and was, therefore, late in connection with the sale referred to.

There still remain at Belmont Hutments one large and five small water tanks for disposal at a later date.
