Vol. 8 No. 17

COMMITTEE ON FINANCE. - DÁIL RESUMES.

Progress reported. Committee to sit again on Wednesday, July 23rd.

I take it this vote will be continued as the first business of the Estimates to-morrow.

Perhaps Deputy Lyons will allow the vote to pass to-night. He may not have very much material to bring forward on it, and I would ask him to let the vote be taken to-night.

I join in that appeal. I have a number of things that I wish to say upon this Estimate, but I have decided to defer them until we get the Defence Forces Bill in the autumn.

What autumn?

This year. It must be brought in before Christmas, and we shall then have an opportunity of expressing ourselves on the broad issue. I appeal to Deputy Lyons to let the Vote go through now.

I am afraid the Deputy will have to appeal to more than Deputy Lyons to let the Vote go through to-night.

Progress is reported.

I propose to take Vote 56, Army Pensions, after 55 to-morrow; then, No. 47, Land Commission Vote, and after the Land Commission, No. 45, Ordnance Survey; then Vote 54, Marine Service, and Vote 52, Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

When does the President propose to take Vote No. 2 (Oireachtas)?

If Deputy Johnson will agree, I would prefer to take that after 52.

The Dáil adjourned at 10.30 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23rd.
