Vol. 8 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SOLDIER'S DEMOBILIZATION PAY.

asked the Minister for Defence whether the Army Order to the effect that on and after a date in June, 1923, every soldier on discharge was to receive twenty-eight days demobilization, full pay and allowance is yet in existence, and if so, whether it is being rendered operative.

The Order referred to by the Deputy related only to soldiers who were demobilized. Except in a number of special cases demobilization ceased on the 31st March last. Subsequently, soldiers who have taken their discharges have done so on termination of their engagements in the ordinary way. However, in their cases it has been decided to issue gratuities consisting of ordinary pay, ration allowance, and where appropriate, marriage allowance for fourteen days.
