Vol. 9 No. 21

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - LAND DISTRIBUTION IN THE MIDLANDS.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether arrangements have yet been completed for the distribution by the Land Commission of the lands of Kilmichael, the property of Mr. R. H. Bond, consisting of 406 acres; Jonestown, the property of Messrs. Reid & McEndoo, consisting of 139 acres, and Corrydonlon, the property of Rex P. Manley, consisting of 159 acres; and, if not, whether the acquisition of these lands, which are all situated in the Rathowen district, will be expedited, to relieve congestion in the locality.

The Land Commission have made an offer for the purchase of 407 acres of Kilmichael on the estate of R. H. Bond and are making an offer to purchase 139 acres of Jonestown, on the estate of Reid & McEndoo. The lands of Corrydonnellan referred to are at present the subject of negotiations between the owner and the Commissioners.

Can the Minister say when these lands are likely to be distributed?

Mr. HOGAN

I do not think it would be fair to the other Deputies in the Dáil if I gave the Land Commission instructions to attend exclusively to the case mentioned by the Deputy.

There are more Deputies than I interested in these lands. Surely it is time to get some satisfactory reply as to when these lands will be divided.
