CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ROSCREA POSTAL DELIVERY.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that letters are not delivered in Roscrea until 11.30 a.m. each day, and whether, as this is a hardship on business people, he can arrange to have an earlier delivery.

There is a delivery at Roscrea at 7.0 a.m. of correspondence received the previous night from Dublin and the South of Ireland. There is another delivery at 11.0 a.m., consisting of the previous night mail postings in Dublin and the provinces, and the English mails due at Dun Laoghaire at 5.50 a.m.

A railway connection to Roscrea is not afforded from the up or down night mail main line trains, but I am having enquiries made as to the practicability of arranging an alternative service to Roscrea with a view to the inclusion in the first delivery of night mail correspondence posted at Dublin and in the provinces, and I will communicate with the Deputy in the matter as soon as the enquiries have been completed.
