Vol. 10 No. 10

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TELEPHONIC FACILITIES AT RAILWAY STATIONS.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that farmers living within reach of the Great Southern Railway feel the great inconvenience of there being no telephones at the stations along the line, particularly when they are forwarding stock or farm produce, and whether he will consider if any action can be taken by his Department in the matter.

It would not be practicable to establish public telephone call offices at all railway stations, but if the Deputy will communicate to me the names of any particular stations he has in mind I will consider whether anything can be done in the matter.

I should point out, however, that such call offices could only be used for local calls and that, as they would be unattended, trunk calls could not be made from them.
