Vol. 10 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - OLD AGE PENSIONS AND SUPERANNUATION.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will take steps to introduce legislation in connection with old age pensions as will allow retiring members of various trades to receive their trade union superannuation in addition to old age benefits without deduction, and if he is aware that the Dublin Typographical Benevolent Fund Committee recently passed a resolution requesting this concession for their members.

I regret that I cannot see my way to introduce legislation to give effect to the suggestion of the Deputy. As regards the second part of the question, a copy of the resolution referred to has not reached me.

Mr. BYRNE

I would ask the Minister if a voluntary grant is made by this benevolent fund to men already in receipt of old-age pensions, whether that will in any way interfere with their right to continuance of their old-age pensions?

That will depend on the amount of the grant.
