Vol. 10 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNEMPLOYMENT AT BALTINGLASS.

EAMON O DUBHGHAILL

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he has received a communication from the Baltinglass No. 2 Rural District Council, requesting a grant to relieve unemployment in the district, and, if so, whether he will state what steps he intends to take to relieve the hardship which a large number of workers in the district suffer as a consequence of unemployment.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, the funds provided by the Relief Schemes Votes have long since been fully allocated, and it is not now possible to make a grant. The new grants to be made to the County Councils from the Road Fund for the ensuing year will shortly be notified.
