Vol. 12 No. 18

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM FOR UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT (DROICHEAD NUA).

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that Volunteer William McGrath, of Moorefield Road, Droichead Nua, Army No. 13640, who attested on March 9th, 1922, and was discharged on May 20th, 1924, Serial No. 4484, and who lodged a claim for unemployment insurance benefit on March 14th, 1925, has not yet received any benefit, and whether he will expedite payment.

William McGrath, Moorefield Road, Droichead Nua, Unemployment Insurance Book No. 4484, claimed Unemployment Insurance Benefit at the Droichead Nua Branch Employment Office on the 16th March, 1925, and again on the 26th March, 1925. When lodging his first claim, Mr. McGrath stated that he previously held an account with the Unemployment Insurance Fund under the number Pendlebury 18730. Reference to this account showed that Mr. McGrath had no contributions to his credit which would entitle him to benefit in the Saorstát; consequently his claim was disallowed. Another account No. Droichead Nua 2594, has since been traced, which, it is believed, is proper to the claimant to whom the Deputy's question relates. Inquiries on this aspect of the case are at present being made, and it is hoped to have these inquiries completed within a few days. If it is established that Mr. McGrath is the rightful holder of the account Droichead Nua 2594, it will be possible to authorise his claim for the maximum periods of benefit payable in the Fourth and Fifth Benefit Years, and payment of all benefit to which he is entitled in consequence will be made without delay.
