Vol. 13 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - UNTENANTED LAND IN EDENDERRY.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he has received repeated representations during the past two years in connection with a proposal for the acquisition of the Baker Estate, Mount Wilson, Edenderry, Offaly; whether he is aware that a large number of workers with long service have been thrown out of employment as a result of the change of ownership of those and other lands in the district, and whether, in view of the very large number of uneconomic holders and landless men in this area, he will take immediate steps to have all untenanted land, including the Baker Estate, acquired for the relief of congestion, or if he will state why he is unable to do so.

Mr. HOGAN

The Land Commission are taking steps for the acquisition of untenanted lands at Mount Wilson on the estate of L. H. Edgill (formerly Baker Estate), and the matter is being dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
