Vol. 13 No. 11

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - WESTPORT PERSONAL INJURIES CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Finance whether an application has been received from Mr. John McGreal, Carrowkennedy, Westport, for compensation for injuries stated to have been received at the hands of British Forces following the Carrowkennedy ambush of March, 1921; whether any inquiries have been made as a result of the receipt of such application, and what action has been taken as a result.

The application of the person named by the Deputy was received by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee. After careful consideration of the facts of the case as presented to them in the application form, and as a result of confidential inquiries which they caused to be made, the Committee formed the conclusion that no serious or permanent injury was sustained by the applicant and that no impairment of earning capacity resulted. They accordingly recommended that no compensation should be paid. This decision was conveyed to the applicant's solicitor on the 20th October, 1924.
