Vol. 13 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - WESTMEATH COUNTY COMMITTEES.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether his Department has approved of the scheme adopted by the Westmeath County Council at their meeting held on November 8th, 1925, as to the transfer of officials of local bodies abolished under the Local Government Act, 1925, and the formation of two Advisory Committees in North and South Westmeath respectively, the said Committees to be comprised of the elected members on the Council for those two districts; and, further, if he is aware that the delay by his Department concerning this scheme is hampering the local administration in the county.

Certain proposals following on the abolition of the Rural District Councils were received in my office last week. They were open to objection, and my views have been explained in letters addressed to the County Council and to the Board of Health. There has been no delay on the part of my Department.

Has the Minister yet sanctioned the scheme?

Not as originally composed. I expect it will be modified.
