Vol. 14 No. 1

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - LEIX DEMOBILISATION CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Defence if any application was received from ex-Commandant Mansfield, Ballinakill, Leix, for a demobilisation grant; if he will state why same was not paid at the time of his discharge from the Army, and what amount, if any, he is now prepared to sanction in this case.

An application for a demobilisation grant was received from Mr. Mansfield. He was informed on the 15th December, 1924, that such grant was not issuable to an officer whose services terminated prior to the 1st March, 1923. Mr. Mansfield resigned with effect from the 27th January, 1923. I regret that the decision to disallow his claim cannot be reversed. No claim for demobilisation pay was received from Mr. Mansfield. As, however, his services ceased prior to the 15th September, 1923, he is not eligible for the three months' pay and allowances normally issuable under the terms of Defence Order No. 28 to officers whose services terminated on or subsequent to that date.
