Vol. 14 No. 11

PRIVATE DEPUTIES' BUSINESS. - ORDER OF BUSINESS.

There are two motions now before the Dáil. It is possible that the first one, that in the name of Deputy Heffernan, will occupy most of the remaining time this evening. I have not had any intimation that Deputy Professor Magennis would not move his motion, say, at 8.15 o'clock if we reached it then. I would not raise any objection to having it put on the Order Paper for to-morrow and taking it at the conclusion of the ordinary business.

Deputy Heffernan's motion being adjourned from last week is in effect an Order of the Dáil and takes precedence of that of Deputy Magennis. Assuming that the latter motion does not come on this evening, the President is willing to have it on the Order Paper for to-morrow and give Government time for its consideration.

Supposing Deputy Heffernan's motion is disposed of early, does that preclude the other motion being taken to-night?

That is what I intended.

That it should be precluded?

I take it that Deputy Magennis will be prepared to move it to-night if opportunity offers, but if it is not reached it will be on the Order Paper to-morrow.
