Vol. 14 No. 19

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - GRANARD COMPENSATION CLAIM.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that a claim for personal injuries and loss of trade was lodged by Miss H. Mahon, Barrack Street, Granard, Co. Longford, on the 12th December, 1922, against British forces, and if he will state when compensation will be paid; whether he is aware that the claimant is in very delicate health and poor circumstances owing to the treatment she received at the hands of British forces.

An application by Miss Mahon for compensation in respect of injury to her health, stated to have been caused by the raids on her premises in 1920 and 1921, was received and considered by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee, who recommended that no compensation should be paid. I am not aware that Miss Mahon is in very delicate health and poor circumstances owing to the treatment she received at the hands of the British forces. The Committee found on investigation of the claim that Miss Mahon's health was not seriously impaired as a result of the raids. The claim for alleged loss of trade is not one which could be entertained.
