Vol. 14 No. 19

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - ATHLONE MAN'S GUNS.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Mr. Patrick Ward, Strand Street, Athlone, gave two 10 and 12-bore guns to the Irish Volunteers in 1921; that Mr. Ward has communicated several times on the matter, and sent receipts to Island Bridge Barracks without result, and whether he will have the guns returned or award the value of same as compensation.

As the guns could not be traced, Mr. Ward's communications were transmitted to the Secretary, Claims Committee (Indemnity Act, 1924), Department of Finance. I understand that an award of compensation has been made for their loss and was paid to Mr. Ward on or about the 24th ultimo.
