Vol. 17 No. 1

BARRACK RAIDS. - LAND BILL (No. 2), 1926—REFERENCE TO SELECT COMMITTEE.

With the leave of the Dáil I beg to move the following motion:—

1. That the Land Bill (No. 2), 1926, be referred to a Select Committee, consisting of nine Deputies, for the purpose of considering and making recommendations on the Bill.

2. That the quorum of the Committee be five, and that the Committee report back to the Dáil not later than 7th December next.

3. That the Committee of Selection nominate nine Deputies to serve on the said Committee.

That is the usual resolution. I think, as a rule there is only a choice between seven and nine. Nine is the number I suggest. The only other point is the date for reporting back, and I suggest that they report back to the Dáil not later than the 7th December, which will give ample time. I daresay the Committee will be in a position to meet next week.

They would be in a position to meet on Thursday.

Mr. HOGAN

That is a matter for the Committee.

They could meet on Thursday if necessary.

Mr. HOGAN

Possibly Deputies may not have their amendments by then. Even if they meet for the first time next week they will probably be able to get through some business. Deputies will see that the resolution, which was drafted before the Dáil met to-day, is in general terms.

I am accepting this motion, without notice, with the unanimous approval of the House.

Motion put and agreed to.
