Vol. 17 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PENSIONS COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number, if any, and which, of the recommendations of the Old Age Pensions Committee of Inquiry have up to the present been put into operation.

I have decided that the Revenue Commissioners shall issue instructions to Pension Officers to attend any meeting of Pension Sub-Committees which they are requested by the Committees to attend.

The recommendations of the Committee of Inquiry in the matters dealt with in the following paragraphs arc being met substantially by administrative action or modifications of procedure or, where these will not be sufficient, by amendments to the Statutory Regulations and Forms which have been drafted and are under consideration :—

Paragraphs 30, 35, 36, 37, 49, 51 and 52.

The suggestions or recommendations in paragraphs 21 and 48 are unacceptable, and no action is required regarding the recommendation in paragraph 45 which represents existing practice.

The recommendations in paragraphs 47, 50 and 53 present points of difficulty, and are under consideration.
