Vol. 17 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REINSTATED EVICTED TENANTS.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he is in a position to state how many evicted tenants have, up to date, been reinstated by the Irish Land Commission under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, how many have applied for reinstatement, and what is the approximate total area of the farms into which these reinstated evicted tenants have been restored.

Mr. HOGAN

Since the passing of the Land Act, 1923, 21 evicted tenants or their representatives were reinstated in their former holdings, and 27 provided with parcels of land by the Land Commission; the approximate total area of these lands is 2,166 acres. The number of new applications received during the same period from evicted tenants or their representatives is 1,284. I may say 3,800 tenants were provided for under the previous Acts.
