Vol. 17 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REDUCTION OF VALUATION IN DUBLIN.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will furnish a list of the buildings in Dublin City valued at £100 or over the valuation of which is deemed to be reduced under Section 69 of the Local Government Act, 1925.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the total valuation of buildings in Dublin City and in the townships in county Dublin, the valuation of which is deemed to be reduced under Section 69 of the Local Government Act, 1925.

I am now replying to the two questions by the Deputy on this subject. The information required is not available in my Department. It can only be obtained from the local authority concerned. I would point out that Rule 4 of the Rating of New Buildings Order, 1926, provides that the lists of such new buildings are open to inspection at the offices of the local authority by any member of the public. It may, however, serve the Deputy's purpose to some extent if I mention that I understand there are up to the present 64 ratings in Dublin City, valued at £100 or over, the valuation of which is deemed to be reduced under Section 69 of the Local Government Act, 1925, while the total valuation of the ratings in Dublin City referred to in the second question amounts to £31,033.

Will the Minister say whether that total valuation refers to the townships as well as the city, or does it refer solely to Dublin city?

Only to Dublin city.

Can the Minister give us any information with regard to the figures for the townships?

I have not got that at the moment. It would take me several days to get that.
