Vol. 18 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLARE PERSONAL INJURIES APPLICATION.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state why compensation was not awarded in respect of personal injuries suffered by Mr. James McNamara, Knockatoreen, Kilkishen, County Clare, at the hands of British Forces in January, 1921.

As the Deputy has already been informed in a letter addressed to him from my Department on the 21st January, 1926, the application of James McNamara for compensation in respect of personal injuries was fully and carefully considered by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee in accordance with their terms of reference. The Committee found that the injuries were not of a serious or permanent nature and they, accordingly, recommended that no compensation should be paid. The Committee has ceased to function and no variation of their recommendations can now be made.
