Vol. 18 No. 8

MONEY RESOLUTION—CIRCUIT COURT APPEALS BILL.

I move:—

Go bhfuil sé oiriúnach a údarú go n-íocfar amach as airgead a sholáthróidh an tOireachtas luach saothair agus liúntaisí le Coimisinéirí a ceapfar fé aon Acht a rithfar sa tSiosón so chun socrú do dhéanamh chun Coimisinéirí a ceapfar chuige sin d'éisteacht agus do bhreithiúnú Athchomhare Síbhialta ar feitheamh a dineadh i gcoinnibh breitheanna Cúirte Cuarda.

That it is expedient to authorise payment out of moneys to be provided by the Oireachtas of remuneration and allowances to Commissioners appointed under any Act of the present Session to make provision for the hearing and determination of pending Civil Appeals from the Circuit Court by Commissioners appointed for that purpose.

It is not anticipated that the expenditure involved in the passage of this Bill will exceed £3,500. Four Commissioners will be appointed. The rate of remuneration will not exceed that of a High Court Judge—£2,500 per annum. If, therefore, the Commissioners succeed in finishing their work in three months the expenditure on salaries will be £2,500. The work is expected to be done in three months, or very little more. Salaries are hardly likely to exceed £3,000, and expenses in connection with registrars, criers, travelling and subsistence will not, it is expected, exceed another £500.

We may take it from the Minister's statement that the rate of remuneration will be similar to that of a High Court Judge.

Question put and agreed to.
