I understand that in my absence a question was raised as to the date on which the Committee Stage of the Intoxicating Liquor Bill will be taken. I understand that amendments to the Bill are still coming in, so it would not be quite convenient to proceed to-morrow. On that basis it is a matter of indifference whether the Dáil takes it on Friday or Tuesday.
ORDUITHE AN LAE. - INTOXICATING LIQUOR BILL.
Does the Minister intend to defer making a decision until the amendments cease coming in?
I mean not later than Tuesday. I leave it to the Dáil to decide whether the Bill would be taken on Friday or Tuesday.
The position is: if the Committee Stage of the Army Pensions Bill and Juries Bill concludes after six o'clock to-morrow, would the Liquor Bill be taken up at that particular hour or be deferred until Tuesday?
I have no definite view on the matter, but if other parties in the House prefer it we could go on with it to-morrow. I understand that one party has an objection to taking important business on Friday.
Go on with it to-morrow.
Perhaps the Minister would take into consideration the advisability of asking the railway companies to run special excursion trains from the country.
We are satisfied to go on to-morrow and next day. As we are here we do not want to go back without considering the Bill.
Very well. I am prepared to go on to-morrow or wait until Tuesday.
