asked the Minister for External Affairs whether he is aware that the Prime Minister of Canada is reported as having announced the probable appointment of a British High Commissioner in Canada; and whether he has any information regarding the intentions of the British Government as to the appointment of a similar representative in Dublin.
CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - APPOINTMENT OF HIGH COMMISSIONER TO DUBLIN.
I have read a newpaper report of the statement of the Prime Minister of Canada regarding the probability of the appointment of a British High Commissioner to Canada. The Deputy will have seen the recommendation of the Imperial Conference which appears on page 27 of the Summary of Proceedings. So far, I am not in a position to inform the Deputy what action the British Government proposes to take with regard to representation in Dublin.
