Vol. 19 No. 16

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DIVISION OF LANDS (CO. CORK).

DOMHNALL O MOCHAIN

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture what decision the Land Commission has come to in respect of the lands of Major Alworth, Newmarket, Co. Cork, and if he is aware that applications have been made by the townspeople of Newmarket for a division of those lands amongst them, and if the inspectors reported favourably as to the division of those lands amongst the people of Newmarket.

Communications have been received on behalf of the townspeople of Newmarket requesting the Land Commission to take steps to acquire untenanted lands on the estate of Major J.C. Aldworth, Co. Cork. Proceedings were instituted by the Land Commission for the acquisition of 131a. 2r. 22p. of the lands of Park, and these lands were published in a Provisional List. The owner lodged an objection to this Provisional List, which was allowed by the Judicial Commissioner. The lands were subsequently sold in divisions to local allottees, and have again been inspected. In all the circumstances the Land Commission have decided to take no further action in the matter.
