Vol. 19 No. 21

WRITTEN ANSWER. - THE JEFFRIES AND HODGSON ESTATES (CO. GALWAY).

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture whether he has received a request from the uneconomic holders in the vicinity of the Jeffries and Hodgson Estates, Glann, Oughterard, County Galway, to have these estates included in the land reclamation schemes, and what action has been taken or is intended to be taken by his Department as a result of the receipt of this request.

Mr. HOGAN

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The Hodgson estate has been inspected and the question of its acquisition is under consideration by the Land Commission. The other estate mentioned in the question cannot be identified from the particulars furnished. Lands suitable on the estates mentioned, and on other estates, will be included in any reclamation scheme undertaken by the Land Commission, and any action as to acquisition of the lands or portions thereof, will be decided by the facts as to suitability for reclamation.
