Vol. 21 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SEA FISHERIES CONFERENCE.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he intends to adopt any or all of the recommendations of the Sea Fisheries Conference.

Some of the recommendations made by the Conference alluded to do not call for any State action. Those recommendations which do call for intervention by my Department have been accepted with very little modification, and steps are being taken to secure financial provision for those which involve State expenditure.

Would the Minister inform us when he intends to put into operation the recommendations dealing with the re-valuation of boats and gear and the establishment of a navigation school?

If I remember rightly, there is no recommendation in the Sea Fisheries Conference Report in regard to the re-valuation of boats, because that matter had already been dealt with before the Conference sat. That is being done. With regard to the schools, I am seeking financial provision for the carrying out of these things.
