asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state why the old age pension paid to Mrs. Mary O'Donovan, Coolmaine, Kilbrittan, for a period of eleven years, was stopped in 1925, and if the matter will be considered on the production of additional evidence in support of the claim.
CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - STOPPAGE OF OLD AGE PENSION.
This applicant was in receipt of a pension of 10/- a week, which came under consideration on review under the provisions of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1924. The Kinsale No. 1 Pension Sub-Committee decided that the pension should be discontinued from the 5th September, 1924, and the appeal from the pensioner not being received within the prescribed time was dismissed on appeal as late. The Sub-Committee's decision, therefore, remained effective.
A further claim was made in December, 1925, which was likewise disallowed by the Pension Sub-Committee on the ground that the claimant's means exceeded the statutory limit, and an appeal being received from the claimant, the Sub-Committee's decision was upheld by a decision dated 26th February, 1926. It was reported that she was maintained on her son's farm of 50 acres of fair land (poor law valuation £30 15s. 0d.), with over 7 acres of tillage and the usual stock. I have no power to reconsider decisions given in old age pension cases.
