CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - STATIONERY OFFICE PURCHASES.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the value in pounds sterling of purchases on the part of the Stationery Office for paper, other than packing paper, purchased in the years 1923-24, 1924-25, 1925-26, 1926-27, also the value of packing and wrapping paper purchased in the above years, and how much, if any, of such purchases were made from manufacturers in the Saorstát in each of the above-mentioned years.

(a) The envelopes are manufactured by contractors within the Saorstát who supply their own paper.

(b) Includes "costings" (payments for increased costs), approximately £3,250, proper to previous years.

(c) Includes "costings" approximately £1,400, proper to 1922-23, and £1,500 proper to 1923-24.

(d) A sum of £5,060 was received from the British Government and credited to "Paper" in this year as a contribution to "costings" for the period prior to 1-4-'22. The figures here shown are, therefore, in excess of those recorded in the Appropriation Account.
