Vol. 22 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - THURLES LABOUR BUREAU.

Mr. A. FOGARTY

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the officer in charge of the Thurles Labour Bureau informs all applicants for employment that preference will be given to ex-members of the National Army, and, if so, if he will state on whose authority an officer thus acts.

Mr. DOLAN

There has not been sufficient time to obtain a report on this matter, but if the Deputy will repeat the question on this day week I hope to be in a position to reply.

Mr. FOGARTY

Will the Parliamentary Secretary see that there is no exception made between either parties, whatever political views they hold, and that men with families will get the preference in the way of employment?

Mr. DOLAN

If the Deputy furnishes me with the particulars I have asked for, I will have inquiries made and will communicate fully with him.

Mr. CORRY

Will the Minister not accept rates and taxes from anybody who has not been a member of the National Army—from any labourer who has not been a member of the National Army?
