Vol. 22 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RESTRICTIONS ON SALE OF TREACLE (LEITRIM).

Mr. P. REYNOLDS

asked the Minister for Justice whether, in view of the fact that no illicit distilling has been carried on for the past two years in County Leitrim, and that the present restrictions on the sale of treacle in this district are a grave source of inconvenience to traders and a hardship on the poor, he will take steps to have those restrictions removed as soon as possible.

Mr. FITZGERALD-KENNEY

I have caused inquiries to be instituted, and if I am satisfied that the present control of the distribution in County Leitrim of commodities ordinarily used for the manufacture of illicit spirits is no longer necessary I shall take steps to remove such control. I shall acquaint the Deputy in due course of the decision I have reached.
