asked the Minister for Defence why no compensation was paid to the parents of the late Major Thomas Moloney, who was attached to the Air Force, and who was accidentally killed at the Curragh in the month of September, 1925, and if he will consider reopening the case with a view to awarding compensation to the parents of the deceased officer, who are now in very poor circumstances.

PADRAIG MAC FHLANNCHADHA
MINISTER for DEFENCE (Mr. Fitzgerald)
No payment can be made to the dependants of the late Major Moloney under existing legislation, and there are no funds at my disposal at the moment from which compensation could be paid. The question of making special provision for cases of hardship not covered by legislation is at present receiving consideration.
