Vol. 22 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - REPAIRS TO COURTOWN HARBOUR.

Mr. DENIS ALLEN

asked the Minister for Fisheries if a report has been received from the engineer who inspected Courtown Harbour, and, if so, whether it is intended to have the necessary repairs carried out.

MINISTER for FISHERIES (Mr. Lynch)

The harbour of Courtown is in charge of the Wexford County Council. My Department, at the request of the County Council, instructed its engineer to attend an inspection of the harbour by the county surveyor and some members of the Council, so that he might advise on the question of repairs. A copy of the engineer's report has now been sent to the Council, with whom rests the decision as to what repairs they will carry out.

Mr. ALLEN

Would the Minister be prepared to make a grant-in-aid as promised in reply to a question put to him by me in November last?

Mr. LYNCH

I must express my doubts as to having made any such promise. It is the business of the Wexford County Council to repair the harbour. The question of giving a grant-in-aid, if the County Council put up a proposition, is another matter.
