asked the Minister for Fisheries whether it is proposed to proceed with the construction of the Kerry Pass road passing through the Lansdowne and Leigh-White estates; whether he is aware that the heavy work of laying out, including a bridge in good condition, has been done many years ago; whether he is aware that this road has been inspected and reported on by Inspectors of the Land Commission, and that several petitions have been addressed to the Land Commission and the Department of Local Government, and whether, in view of the unemployment prevailing locally, and the possibilities of this district for tourist development, it is proposed to complete this work.
CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CONSTRUCTION OF KERRY PASS ROAD.
Mr. T. MULLINS
Mr. RODDY
The Land Commission do not propose undertaking the construction of this road. The cost of construction is considered too great as compared with any benefits that might be provided for the agricultural community of the district.
