asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state (a) the capital of (1) breweries, (2) distilleries, in the Saorstát in the year 1926-7, or the nearest available year; (b) the total value and quantity of output (1) of breweries, and (2) of distilleries, for the last five years, and the total home consumption, import and export; (c) the total number of wage earners, and the total amount of wages paid (1) in breweries, (2) in distilleries, during the last five years; (d) the total number of salaried earners and total salaries (1) in breweries, and (2) in distilleries, in the Saorstát in the year 1926-7, or the nearest available year; (e) as full particulars as possible for any convenient year, of all materials (quantity and value) used (1) in breweries, and (2) distilleries, in the Saorstát.

The quantities of beer made and spirits distilled in the Saorstát are shown in the Reports published by the Revenue Commissioners, which also give particulars of home consumption and of exports and imports.
For particulars under the other headings in the question it will be necessary to await the publication of the results of the Census of Industrial Production, but those results will relate only to the year in respect of which they were taken.
