Vol. 22 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - THURLES POSTMAN'S PENSION.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state whether it is a fact that Michael Toohey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, who has resigned his position as postman after 42 years' service, has been refused superannuation or compensation; if he will state the reasons for the refusal, and if he will undertake to review the decision.

Mr. Michael Toohey was employed as an unestablished part-time postman and resigned his appointment on 12adh Meadhon Fhomhair, 1925. Service in an unestablished part-time capacity is not pensionable under the Superannuation Acts, but I am having further inquiry made as to the possibility of a grant being made from the special fund at my disposal, and I will communicate the result to the Deputy.
