Vol. 22 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - LEWIS ESTATE (CO. GALWAY).

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether the Land Commission, in dealing with the estate of Mr. John A. Lewis, County Galway (Record No. S. 1990), proposes to recognise the owner as tenant to himself for an area of 71 acres, 3 roods, 31 perches, in the townland of Cuilleendaeagh, and an area of 46 acres, 2 roods, 5 perches in the townland of Garraunphaudeen; and if such action is proposed, what the reason therefor is.

In the schedule of particulars lodged by the owner of the estate of J.A. Lewis, County Galway, to enable the lands to be vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day under the Land Act, 1923, J.A. Lewis has been returned as tenant of two holdings, viz., 71a. 1r. 31p. of Cuilleendaeagh and 46a. 2r. 5p. of Garraunphaudeen, under judicial rents. The Land Commission on the 7th instant published notice of their intention to retain these holdings under Section 28 (6) (d) of the Act, with a view to taking proceedings for the resumption of the holdings after the appointed day has been fixed for this estate.

Might I ask the Parliamentary Secretary if he will give the answer to a question which I had down yesterday, as some mistake has arisen in one of the Departments in reference to it? If I get a written answer I shall be satisfied.

Very well.
